GitMe partner guide
This guide is for approved partners. Activate your account from the invitation email, then sign in to the partner portal. The partner portal is separate from the customer panel.
| Stage | Your action | What you can check |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Introduce | Share your referral link or register a named deal | Referral tools and Deals |
| 2. Attribute | Ask the customer to use GitMe normally | Organizations |
| 3. Earn | Wait for an eligible first payment | Agreement and Earnings & payouts |
| 4. Settle | Review refunds and the monthly cutoff | Monthly statement |
| 5. Receive | Follow the manual transfer | Payment history |
1. Introduce a company
Share your link
Copy the complete referral link from Referral tools. You can use it on your website or in outreach. Send people to that link rather than directly to the customer panel, so GitMe can see the referral visit.
When a visitor accepts analytics cookies, their first consented visit fixes the referral partner for that visitor. A later link from another partner cannot replace that first partner. This first-visit attribution has no signup deadline. A visit alone is not a commission: the customer must later sign up and make an eligible payment.
Someone opens your link and accepts analytics on Monday, then opens another partner's link on Thursday. If they sign up with the same visitor identity, the Monday visit remains the referral source.
Register a deal for a company you already know
Use Deals → Register a deal before the company signs up. Provide its corporate domain and context for your relationship. A submitted deal is only a request; GitMe must approve it before protection starts. The approval date and Protected until date appear in the portal.
The deal protection period is the number of days an approved deal is reserved for you. For example, a 90-day deal approved on 1 October is protected through its calculated end date in late December. It does not override an earlier first-consented referral partner. When no earlier referral partner exists, the approved deal can attribute the company during its protection period. If several partners claim the same company, GitMe reviews the conflict.
2. Check attribution after signup
Organizations shows customer companies attributed to you and whether they have signed up, connected repositories or made a payment. The source says whether the attribution came from a referral or a deal. A company can also have no partner after an admin correction. If an attribution looks incorrect, email partners@gitdotme.com with the company and supporting details; GitMe records corrections and informs the affected partners of the reason.
3. Understand your agreement and first payment
Open Agreement for the rate and the exact terms that apply to you. The current portal agreement uses a percentage of eligible USD revenue excluding tax. Your displayed agreement, rather than a sample rate, determines your commission.
| Agreement term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Revenue share | Your percentage of eligible customer revenue. A $59 eligible payment at 20% produces $11.80 before refunds. |
| Signup-to-payment window | The first eligible payment must happen within this many days after the customer signs up. |
| Commission earning duration | The number of months after that first qualifying payment during which eligible payments earn commission. |
| Deal protection period | How long an approved registered deal is reserved for you, starting at approval. |
| Minimum transfer | The total of complete vested months needed before GitMe can prepare a transfer. |
| Agreement version | New versions apply to newly attributed companies; existing ledger entries retain their recorded agreement reference. |
The first payment starts the earning duration; the referral visit or signup does not. A signup by itself does not create commission.
4. Review monthly earnings and refunds
Earnings & payouts separates pending, vested and paid amounts. Open a monthly statement to see each eligible transaction, refund and commission. Amounts use USD and monthly periods use UTC.
A revenue month can be finalized at 00:00 UTC after that month and the following calendar month have ended, once reconciliation is complete. For example, September revenue reaches this cutoff on 1 November at 00:00 UTC. A refund approved before the cutoff reduces its commission. A later refund changes reported net revenue but does not reduce finalized entitlement.
The payment provider's tax-inclusive charge and the eligible revenue used for commission can differ. Review the statement's revenue and refund amounts, which exclude tax.
5. Follow your payout
Complete vested months accumulate toward the minimum transfer in your agreement. GitMe prepares the transfer manually; creating a payout record does not itself move funds. When the external payment is made, Payment history shows its date and reference. Monthly finalization, transfer preparation and payment are separate steps.
For a disputed attribution or payout, contact partners@gitdotme.com and include the organization, deal or statement reference. Do not send customer passwords or payment credentials.
